About us & FAQs
Early Beginnings
On 3 December 1988 a few proud Goans celebrated the feast of St Francis Xavier with a mass followed by dinner and the Club was born.
The pioneer committee comprised Ruth De Barros, President; Fatima Pinto, Secretary; Frank De Barros, Treasurer and Committee members: Astrid Dobson, Zelma Noronha, Tina Fernandes and Fr. Quentin Culpeper.
The club logo was designed by Jillian De Souza, the club name by Greg and Clare Farrugia and Alzira De Souza came up with the newsletter name.
Where we are at today
Today, the club continues to uphold the traditions and values of Goa through celebration of traditional events such as Goa Carnival, feast of St Francis Xavier and World Goa Day. Additionally other regular events include picnics and an annual camp.
The club is a member of the Federation of Indian Communities in Queensland (FICQ) which was formed to provide a common platform representing the Indian community. However the club has retained its niche culture with its unique blend of Indian traditions and Portuguese colonial influences.
